A Berry Good Margarita

Laboratory Equipment

  • 1 Shaker (optional)
  • 1 Bar Spoon
  • 1 Shot glass
  • 1 Measuring beaker or jug
  • 1 Large wine or cocktail glass

The Formula

  • 100 ml Pink moscato
  • 30 ml Tequila
  • 30 ml Blue curaçao
  • 15 ml Creme de cassis
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 large squirt Agave syrup
  • 1/4 Lime, juiced
  • 100 ml Lime flavoured sparkling mineral water
  • 1 handful Frozen berries
  • Ice

Experimental Procedure

  • Add wine, tequila, blue curaçao, creme de cassis, salt, agave and lime juice to the shaker and shake until cold.
  • Pour into glass and top with lime soda.
  • Add frozen berries to liquid and serve.

Scientist's Notes

This recipe creates a sweet, deep purple-coloured margarita. I was inspired by my pet peacock, Pablo, for this one, but if the colour isn't important you can use the usual Triple Sec, and any berry flavoured liqueur.
